Reading Rainbow

I have been reading the Chronicles of Narnia series and I must say that I thoroughly enjoy them. They are well written with adventure and fantasy.

I love what Aslan represents and his message. If you have only seen the movie "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe", or only read that book, I highly encourage you to read the rest of the books.

C.S. Lewis was a wonderful author and I can't wait to read more of his works.

If you have any other recommended reads, let me know.

Therapeutic Memoirs

What is this?

Is this the Eye of the Storm or a break in the clouds signaling the beginning of brighter days?

I don't really know but I do feel better. I just have to give a little praise to blogger. I have journaled before but for some reason this makes me feel better. (I think it's the pictures.)

It puts a more specific feel... or not, I dunno know.... (smiles)

I just like it.

Thank you for reading.

Movie Critic

The movie was cute and I liked it. It is a fairy tale with modern humor and an all-star cast.

But what I was most excited about is the scene where they were riding the horses on the hill and I jumped to my feet and exclaimed "Guiness Lake!" I've been there. In fact, that very hill....
Granted, it is much colder here and not as green. Ireland is beautiful and I had a great time visiting. Just next time, I am going in the summer.
Happy St. Patricks day! ~ Don't forget to don green!

Countdown & Confessions

The countdown has started and time is ticking away till I am on the road back home to TEXAS. I have to out-process the military, pack my household goods, and tie up any other loose ends before leaving Mississippi.
~
My confession is that I still haven't completed my taxes. I know, I know... time is ticking away!
~
I will be opening a new chapter of my life. I will be starting school. I will be ...... starting over.
~
I think that is how I feel - overwhelmed and somewhat paralyzed. I have so much to do! Leave one life that I have led for over 7 years and start fresh. Scary and excited. You can see my confusing dilemma.
~
Think positive, surrender it to God and press on. Tomorrow is a new day.

Tax Season

Yes, it is that time once again. The time of year most of us look forward to getting that extra cash reimbursed back to us. We make plans to pay off that credit card, put a little extra on the car, or put down a deposit for the vacation.

...But the work!!!! Sorting the papers, receipts, bank statements, cc statements... it is a nightmare.

Or maybe it is just me procrastinating. But I feel like I am flooded with little pieces of paper that surround me mocking me whilst playing hiding seek and quitely taunt me...

Okay, maybe that is a bit over the top.

All in all, it must be done. I am ready. I have set aside the time, taken out my protective eye wear, got my tacky fingers, a first aid kit (in case of severe papercuts), a filing system (of sorts) and I am on my way!!!!

Pray for me.

Mi familia

My family! How I love them. In all their glory and imperfections.

from left to right: my aunt Regena, my Nana, my Granny, and my Mom!

The generations come together to celebrate life. This day was my cousins bridal shower. We played games and laughed. We ate and laughed. We laughed and ate. The day was beautiful and the company priceless.

I look forward to going home and being able to spend more time with them.

This is my nephew. He is sooo cute! I have only got to spend a little time with him and they grow so fast. I want him to know me.

[slips into deep profound thought]

Aaww, how time does fly. I send out a big hug to those I love and miss. I will see you soon.

"There's no place like home. There's no place like home. There's no place like home."

Crabbypatty

I am exhausted. I have been having dreams like crazy. It isn’t that they are nightmares but I just don’t feel rested.

I am being visited by the most unlikely folks in my dreams. One had a girl I went to High School with. Heather! She was not a nice girl and particularly mean to me. So I don’t know why she was there.

Last night, Jack Nicholson reprised the role in Witches of Eastwick. I was trying to hide the deed to our home but he was bewitching everyone. I knew he was evil but had to bide time till I could prove it. All of a sudden the Shim-Sham man shows up to rescue me. Odd!

So what does this all mean? Is it a message to resolve something? I don’t know…

For now, I will just make an effort to go to sleep earlier!

In the meantime, I am a major crabby patty!! I felt like throwing a fit at the grocery store because they didn't have my spring mix salad or lemon flavored water. "I mean really!!!!! Is it too much to ask for?!?!?!"

Then I go to pick up a soda and I am looking for vanilla Coke and do you think they have it??? "NOOO!!!" A million different choices of toothpaste but forget about finding salad, flavored water or coke!!!!

[deep breathing (sighs)]

It is ok! I am fine. I will just go later when they have restocked (smiles pleasantly).

(smile turns somewhat skewed) "But if they don't have what I am looking for, I can not be held responsible for my actions!"

"Have a nice day!"

Family Vacation

Chichen-Itza, Yucatan Pennisula, Mexico:

For my little sister's graduation, my mom and I packed up and we all went to the Mayan Ruins. This is Jina in the court where they played "Womp-womp" (or something like that), which is the early form basketball. The name (whatever it is) came from the sound that the ball of sap made when it hit the rock walls that line the field.

Our guide was very informative and funny. He is the one in the background with the funny hat.

Me:

Here we are in front of what was the Observatory. Like mother like daughters (big cheesy grin). Aren't we the typical tourists!?!

Here are a few other snapshots:

If you can take a closer look at this one, you can see through the trees another ruin in the distance.
